Francis K. Spain, MD, is a 1972 graduate of the University of Idaho and was a charter member of the WWAMI medical student program there.  He attended the University of Washington School of Medicine and received his MD degree in 1976.  The next three years were spent at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine where he completed his Family Medicine residency program in June of 1979.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice with his initial certification in 1979 and he has recertified several times, the last recertification was in 2003.  He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice.  Dr Spain is licensed to practice medicine in Idaho and Washington.

Dr Spain is married and has one son.  He has practiced family medicine in Moscow since 1979 and has been a member physician of Moscow Family Medicine since 1985.  He has been an active member of the medical staff at Gritman Medical Center since 1979.
